Haldia Institute of Technology (An Institute of ICARE, Haldia, Approved by AICTE, Affiliated to WBUT) began its journey in the year 1996.
It is the first private and accredited academic institution catering technical education in West Bengal. The Institute is situated at Haldia – an industrial hub in Eastern India.
Since inception, Haldia Institute of Technology is dedicated to the objectives of creating highly trained professional manpower in various disciplines of Engineering, Technology and Social Science. The Institute is also dedicated to the contribution of higher scientific research in Technology as well as in Applied Science and Social Science.

ICARE is a non-profit volunteer organization founded in 1995, officially recognized under the Societies Registration Act of 1961. This society is governed by a Board of Governors comprising notable individuals who have the vision to build a West Bengal that is developed to its full potential and to create at Haldia a modern education centre of excellence that offers value-based education of the highest caliber.

The library holds 1,26,457 books across 15,836 titles, 198 print journals, and 10 databases of e-resource journals (ScienceDirect, IEEE, Springer, ASTM, ASCE, J-GATE etc.) covering 21,017 e-journals — plus 39,232 e-books via ProQuest and McGraw-Hill.

75 total classrooms including 28 e-classrooms / Modern classrooms equipped with Smart Borad Audio Visual facilities. A fully equipped convention centre with a capacity of 500 people, and campus-wide 1.5 Gbps high-speed Wi-Fi accessible 24 hours — including student hostels and faculty quarters.
