About the Examination Section

Established 1996 The Examination Section was established in 1996 and is responsible for conducting all internal and external examinations under MAKAUT and Autonomy for different UG/PG programmes.

Examination Governance All examinations are governed by the HIT Autonomy Examination Rules & Regulations framed by the Academic Council and ratified by the Board of Governors.

Digital Examination System End-to-end examination management — admit card generation, seating, answer-script tracking and result processing — is handled through the UCanApply portal.

Competitive & Job-Oriented Examinations The section also extends help for organising different competitive/job oriented examinations like JEE (Main), WBJEE, Banking Sector Recruitment, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, TCS, IBM, CTS, Tech Mahindra, Accenture, Capgemini, Adani Wilmar Ltd., Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. etc.

Inclusive Examination Special arrangements — separate seating, scribes and extra time — are provided to physically challenged and differently-abled students.

📝 Theory Papers

Continuous Assessment (CA-I, CA-II, CA-III)

Each CA = Class Test (15) + Viva/Quiz/Seminar/GD (10) + Attendance (5) = 30 marks. Internal Assessment = Best of CA-I, CA-II & CA-III (30 marks).

External Assessment — Final Exam

End-semester written examination carrying 70 marks.

Final Marks = Internal (30) + External (70) = 100

🔬 Practical / Sessional Papers

Practical Continuous Assessment (PCA-I & PCA-II)

Each PCA = Learning & Interaction (10) + Internal Viva (10) + Lab Report (15) + Attendance (5) = 40 marks. Best of PCA-I & PCA-II = 40 marks.

Grand Viva (20) + Practical Exam (40)

External Assessment [Final Exam] = 60 marks.

Final Marks = PCA Best (40) + External (60) = 100
