About SANJUKTA PAUL

Dr. Sanjukta Paul is a faculty member in the Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities at Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT) since August, 2025. She has completed her B.Sc. from the University of Burdwan(BU) and her M.Sc. from Jadavpur University (JU). She has obtained her Ph.D. from the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) in 2019 and has carried out her doctoral research at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP). She has primarily worked in the area of Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics comprising numerical modelling of oxides to study their magnetic properties and Density Functional Theory calculations on transition metal dichalcogenide systems. Her current research interests have expanded to the realm of Econophysics, specifically focussing on the Kinetic Exchange Income Distribution Models.

Following her Ph.D., Dr. Paul pursued postdoctoral research tenures at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), India, from 2018 - 2020 and subsequently at the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences (SNBNCBS) from 2021 - 2022. Prior to joining HIT as a permanent faculty member, she has also gained temporary teaching experiences at Bankura University (BKU), West Bengal from 2023 - 2024 and the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Raipur, 2025 - 2025.

Dr. Paul has published research papers in international journals and has actively participated in various conferences. She has also undertaken international academic visits, reflecting her engagement with the global research community. Her academic interests emphasise both research and teaching, with a strong commitment to student learning and academic development.
