Dr. Biswajit Mandal, Associate Professor of Chemical engineering Department in Haldia Institute of Technology did B.Sc. in Chemistry Honours in the year 1998 from Belur Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Calcutta University and then did B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D from Rajabazar Science College, Calcutta University in the year 2001, 2003 and 2016 respectively. He is a life member of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (LM-45506). He is a Technical consultant for sustainable energy of Sunkonnect Pte Ltd. Singapore and P. C. Chandra & Company (P)Limited, Kolkata, West Bengal. He is the Advisory Board Member of laboxd-science experiment kits in Orissa, Uttarakhand and west Bengal Region. Moreover he serves as Technical Consultant for training, research and development on the sustainable energy and environmental waste minimization at Terra Green Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata. In addition he is also an Advisory Board member of Sarthak Aqua Enterprise, Mahishadal, West Bengal.
He has vast research experience on biological hydrogen and developed a 1000 liter pilot plant at IIT kharagpur in the year 2005. Dr. Mandal also has research experience on hydrogen production through water fracturing process such as electrolysis, membrane electrolysis, magnetolysis and solar hydrogen from water. He contributed significantly in the area of hydrogen production, hydroxy gas generator and Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell. Based on the works in these areas, he has published many papers in national and international journals. His contribution on hydroxyl gas generator certified by Indian patent office entitled “A brown (HHO) gas generator adapted for use in automobile engine” Patent number 283077, 03.05.2017. He also received another patent for the process of removal of color from fatty acid, Patent number: 292435, 31.1.2018. Another patent number 561021, 24/02/2025 on "A new polymeric IPN membrane for regenerative fuel cell, fuel cell and pervaporative separation". Apart from previous list of patents, another patent on “Air Analyzing Cum Air Health Monitoring System” dated 03/03/2023 was also filed with application number 202331014510. One more patent on “IOT-ENABLE SMART WATER HEALTH MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEM USING LORA WAN COMMUNICATION FOR PISCICULTURE ” dated 01/01/2024 was also filed with application number 202431000061. On dated 01/07/2024 one more patent applied on “ PORTABLE HYDROGEN GENERATOR FOR PRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN ON DEMAND” with application number 202431050150.
