Dr. Gourisankar Roymahapatra, FICS, FIC, FRESI, MRSC, is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the School of Applied Science and Humanities, Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT), Haldia, India. He earned his Ph.D. from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2014 with specialization in N-Heterocyclic Carbene (NHC) Chemistry. His research interests Organometallic chemistry, catalysis, drug design, gas adsorption, super alkali, green energy, and computational chemistry with DFT. Before entering academia, he worked as a Senior Chemist at MCC PTA Chem. Corp. Pvt. Ltd. (MCPI), Haldia (2003–2011). He later served as a Lecturer at Global Institute of Science and Technology, Haldia, and joined HIT in 2015 as an Assistant Professor. He also served as Guest Lecturer at Midnapore College, Raja NL Khan Women’s College and Netaji Open University. Dr. Roymahapatra has received several honors, including the Distinguished Young Scientist Award in Chemistry (2014), Indian Chemical Society Research Excellence Award (2021), A.P.C. Ray Memorial Lecture Award (2024), Meghnad Saha Award (2025), and Bengal Excellence Award (2025). He has published over 130 international research articles, 17 book chapters, one book, and holds 11 joint patents.
