Dr. Shamba Chatterjee, with nearly 16 years of teaching and research experience, has earned his Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee with DAAD (Germany), GATE, CSIR, and NDF (AICTE) Fellowships, and completed postdoctoral research at Seoul National University, specializing in Animal Cell Culture Engineering, Cancer Biology and Environmental Biotechnology. His research focuses on Mammalian and Yeast-based Bioassay development for Biotherapeutics, Anticancer Agents, Environmental Biotechnology and Healthcare & Allied Management. He has published 14 journal articles, 9 conference proceedings papers (IEEE & Springer), and 12 book chapters (ELSEVIER Academic Press, Taylor & Francis & IGI Global). He also holds 4 published patents and 12 granted patents (10 national and 2 international).
A recipient of the NPTEL Discipline Star and Motivated Learner Award from IIT Madras. He earned 5 Gold, 15 Silver medals, and 2 Elite certificates across 22 NPTEL courses from various Institutes of Eminence, ranking as a topper in most of them. He is also a life member of the Society of Biological Chemists and IIChE, India.
Additionally, he has also achieved certifications in the German language from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Goethe-Institut (Max Mueller Bhavan), New Delhi, and Carl Duisberg Centren, Cologne, Germany, reflecting his commitment to continuous learning and international academic engagement. Also earned certification in Soft Skill Development, Stress Management, and Engineering Psychology, strengthening workplace efficiency through improved communication, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and effective stress management.

Completed one DBT Funded project on cytotoxic Biphenyl-4-Carboxylic acid targets tubulin-microtubule system and inhibits cellular migration in different cell lines as associate researcher in Department of Biotechnology, Haldia Institute of Technology, 2012-2015. The data from this project has been published in J. Taibah University Sci., Taylor & Francis.
• Completed a consultancy project at IIT Roorkee on the analysis of Assimilable Organic Carbon (AOC) and Total Organic Carbon (TOC) in water samples from Chilla Power Plant, operated by Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd., Uttarakhand.
• Completed a consultancy project at HIT Haldia on the biological analysis of several samples, sponsored by SynBiogenesis Private Limited, serving as Principal Investigator (PI).
